November 8th, 2024 at 10 a.m. in Henry County, Cambridge IL. Henry County tax sale will be 1st and Mercer County to follow.

YOU MUST PROVIDE YOUR PAYMENT STUBS WITH YOUR PAYMENTS!!
Taxes may be paid in one of the following ways:

1) Drop box - there are two drop box locations at the Courthouse.  One is located outside the building and the other is located on the 2nd floor outside of the Collector's office.  Please put payments and payment stub from tax bill in an envelope labeled "County Collector" if you plan to use the drop box system.  You should use your check or money order as your receipt.  If you would like a receipt mailed to you, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope with your payment.

2) Mail - you may mail your tax payment to:  Mercer County Collector's Office, 100 SE 3rd St., Aledo, IL  61231.  You should use your check or money order as your receipt.  If you would like a receipt mailed to you,  please include a self-addressed stamped envelope with your payment.
Please remember: We have no control over mail delivery, we do accept post mark dates (if there is one on the envelope), we are not responsible for your payment getting here via mail.

3) Bank - you may pay your taxes at any bank in Mercer County as well as at  People's National Bank in Reynolds or CBI Bank & Trust in Buffalo Prairie.  If you pay at the bank, they will mark your bill as paid. The bank will not accept payments late, (except they will take payments with no penalty the Saturday until noon after the due date. You must have your property tax pay stubs from your bill, or the bank cannot accept payments.

4) Online - you may also pay your taxes by clicking PAY PROPERTY TAXES HERE .  
A third party handling fee will apply.  Please print your receipt.

Dear Tax Buyer:  Mercer County will hold the annual tax sale at 10:00 A.M. on November 8th, 2024 at the Henry County Courthouse in Cambridge, IL. Henry County tax sale will start at 10 A.M. and Mercer County’s tax sale will follow directly afterwards.  The sale will be assisted by Joe Meyers & Assoc. using the RAMS 2 system. Payments: The County Clerk/Collector will take a blank check made out to Mercer County Collector when you check in.
The Treasurer will review all Motions for Sale in Error’s:
The Treasurer will object in court to any Sale in Error’s if you buy back taxes that have had a prior sale in error.
200/21-310 Grounds: No interest will be paid on a sale in error for:
(b)(2) Improvements destroyed after tax sale (substantial destroy or rendered uninhabitable)
(b)(4) Hazards waste on property unknown to tax buyer at sale
22-35 Municipal liens
22-50 Denial of deed
Please fill out the enclosed registration form with the requested information so we can complete the registration process.  If you have already sent in a form for registration you will find a receipted copy enclosed but we would like the additional information on our form so we can have the necessary information for our office files.  The registration must be accompanied by a registration fee of $100.00 which, $100.00 will be applied to your purchases at the tax sale. The deposit will be forfeited if the registrant does not attend the sale nor does not purchase taxes.
The fee for the list is $100.00 and is not a part of the registration fee. The list will be e-mailed to you from the office of Joe Meyers & Assoc. and will be updated by them as we get closer to the actual sale date.  If you desire some other form of the list please indicate on your return of the registration or contact our office.  We must receive your current information and the fees so we complete the registration process before or on October 20th, 2023.

PAYING AFTER THE DUE DATES:
A penalty of 1.5%  will be charge after the due date, and 1.5% (1.5%, 3%, 4.5%, etc.) will be added every 30 days TAXES are late (there are no grace periods, these penalties will start accumulating the day after the due dates).  The County collector is not responsible for the omission of property or for the payment on wrong tracts or lots.  Please keep your copies of this bill.  Duplicate copies will be charged as follows:  $2 in office or mailed for homeowners or $5 for non home owners, $3 email or $5 faxed.   No partial payments will be accepted.  Payments must be made in full installments as shown on the bill or be paid in full at any time by the due dates.  No personal checks or credit card payments will be accepted 30 days prior to the tax sale.  Please call the office after the due dates to find out what payment options are being accepted.

MOBILE HOME PRIVILEGE TAX
Taxes may be paid at the County Collector / Treasurer's Office at the Mercer County Courthouse (Open Monday - Friday, 8am to 4pm).  Taxes may also be mailed to Mercer County Collector @ 100 SE 3rd Street, Aledo, IL  61231.  Please mail tax stub with you payment.  Mobile Home taxes cannot be paid by Credit Card.

THE PUBLIC ACT 96-1477 READS THAT A MOBILE HOME OR MANUFACTURED HOME TAXED UNDER THE MOBILE HOME LOCAL SERVICES TAX OR AS IT IS CALLED THE "PRIVILEGE TAX", ON JANUARY 1, 2011, CONTINUES TO BE TAXED UNDER THAT ACT UNTIL THE HOME IS 1) SOLD, 2) TRANSFERRED OR 3) RELOCATED TO ANOTHER PARCEL OUTSIDE A MOBILE HOME PARK.  IF ANY OF THESE THREE EVENTS OCCUR, THEN THE MOBILE OR MANUFACTURED HOME MUST BE THEN BE ASSESSED AS REAL PROPERTY.
