Mercer County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. As of 2010, the population was 16,434 a drop of 523 from 2000. The county seat is Aledo. Mercer County is one of the four counties that make up the Davenport-Moline-Rock Island Metropolitan Statistical Area.

                                                PUBLIC NOTICE

                         EARLY, GRACE PERIOD AND ABSENTEE VOTING

Pursuant to Article 19A of the Illinois Election Code, Early Voting for the General Primary Election for all Mercer County Precincts will be conducted at the Office of the Mercer County Clerk at the courthouse at 100 SE 3rd Street in Aledo beginning February 27, 2012 on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. through March 15, 2012.   In Person Absentee Voting continues until March 19, 2012.  In addition the office will be open for In Person Absentee Voting on Saturday, March 17th from 8:00am to 12:00 noon.  Grace Period Voting will be from February 22 through March 13th at which time a voter may register and vote at the same time.  Any voter validly registered in Mercer County may vote during the early voting period after showing proper identification, however, any vote cast is final, and may not be revoked, and the voter is not eligible to cast a vote on Election Day.

The colors for Primary Ballots are Democrat (GREEN) and Republican (YELLOW).
