Bioterrorism
Because of the recent worldwide events and increasing awareness of the
potential for exposure of the county to Bioterrorism, Mercer County Health
Department has developed a response plan to help guide and promote a unified
and knowledgeable course of action to be followed should such an exposure
occur. Communities must have a coordinated response plan to a possible
terrorist attack. The Mercer County Health Department Emergency/Bioterrorism
Plan includes ESDA, law enforcement, EMS responders, local fire chiefs
and all firemen, health care facilities, and public health officials.
In the event of an emergency or terrorist incident please, refer to the
Emergency Information Link on the Health Department Home Page.
Community Members can take action and prepare a Portable Emergency Supply
Kit. Portable Kits address the key elements of Water, Food and Clean Air
that are essential for survival. Recommended supplies from www.ready.gov
include the following:
Water - determine the amount able
to be stored outside the home and transported to other locations.
Food - at least a three day supply
of non-perishable foods
Battery-powered radio and extra batteries

Whistle - to signal for help
