Coordinated School Health Program

Mercer County Health Department was chosen to receive a Coordinated School Health Grant. The Health Department partners with Westmer Elementary and Junior High Schools to identify and institute programs aimed at reducing high risk behaviors in student in grades preK-eighth. The WEST Program Model focuses on developing a strong infrastructure for coordinating existing and needed school program s through a comprehensive plan for improving health and education for students and staff. Current programs being implemented are focusing on the areas of staff wellness, oral health, violence prevention and nutrition.
