The function of the Board of Review is the final local review of the assessments within their jurisdiction. Other changes of the Board of Review include but not limited to:
- Hear complaints concerning real estate assessments, and rendering decisions regarding values of real property
- Defend decisions to the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board
- Determine or recommend eligibility for certain exemptions
- Apply equalization factors
Note: All Board of Review rules and procedures, complaint forms for both farm and non-farm properties, and appeal checklist can be obtained in the Documents section of this website and at the Supervisor of Assessments Office
The Mercer County Board of Review was in session June 5, 2018 for the 2018 assessment year. All meetings willl be scheduled as needed and the Agenda will be posted at least 48 hours prior to the meeting. The Board of Review may recess as necessary for the completion of their duties. The Mercer County CCAO will be publishing and sending 2018 change of assessment and notice to taxpayer on October 10, 2018. The deadline to file any appeal with the Board of Review is November 9, 2018. (You have 30 days after publication to file appeal.) All appeal forms and rules are available on the Mercer County website: mercercountyil.org , the Supervisor of Assessments Office and the Board of Review Office.
